5、relatedtoculturepoolsusedinthisstudywerederivedstrain229E(7-10).Despiteefforts(3-6,11,fromthisstrain.OC43virusadaptedto12)toadaptmembersoftheobligateorgangrowinhumandiploidcellstrain(HDCS)culturecoronavirusgrouptotissueculture,WI38cultureswasavailableint
6、hislaborato-onlystrainsB814,(thefirstdescribedcorona-ry(17)andbothvirusesweregrownvirusofhumanorigin),LP,EVS,OC43(andinHDCSWI38culturesmaintainedonaOC38)havebeensuccessfullygrownincon-mixtureofhalfEagle’sMinimalEssentialventionaltissueculturecells(6,11,1
7、2).MediuminEarle’sBSSandhalfMediumAlthoughstrainOC43showsatypical199,containing2%fetalcalfserum,or0.2%coronavirusstructureintheelectronmicro-bovineplasmaalbumin(ArmourfractionV),scope,thevirushasseveralbiologicalcharac-100U/mlpenicillinand100pg/mlstrepto
