2、Vhavebeensequenced.Thenucleotidesequenceforthecomplete5regionofmRNAC,whichisnotpresentinmRNAsAandB,hasbeendetermined.Asequenceof1224basesispresentedwhichcontainsalongopenreadingframepredictingapolypeptideofmolecularweight25443.Thisisinagreementwiththemolecularweightof23000reportedfor
3、theunglycosylatedformofthemembranepolypeptide.IBV,membraneprotein,DNAsequencingIntroductionAvianinfectiousbronchitisvirus(IBV)isamemberofthefamilyCoronaviridae.Thecoronavirusesarelargeenvelopedviruseswithpositive-strandedRNAgenomes(Siddelletal.,1983).Thepleomorphicvirusparticleisgene
4、rallysphericalinshapeandcontainsthreemajorproteinstructures:themembraneprotein,thenucleocapsidproteinandthesurfaceprojectionswhichformthedistinctivecorona(Cavanagh.1981).ThemembraneorMproteincomprisesapolypeptideofmolecularweight23000(23k)whichisglycosylatedtodifferentextentstoformgl
5、ycopolypeptidesofmolecularweightsrangingfrom26kto34k(Sternetal.,1982;SternandSefton,1982b;Cavanagh,1983).TheoligosaccharidesoftheMpolypeptideareofthehighmannosetypeandarelinkedtothepolypeptidebyN-glycosidiclinkages(SternandSefton,1982b;Cavanagh,1983).Themajorportionofthemembraneprote
