EIA-364-41CPage1TESTPROCEDURENo.41CCABLEFLEXINGTESTPROCEDUREFORELECTRICALCONNECTORS(FromEIAStandardsProposalNo.4142,formulatedunderthecognizanceEIACE-2.0CommitteeonNationalConnectorStandards,andpreviouslypublishedinEIA-364-41B.)1Introduction1.1ScopeThisstandardestablishesamethodtodeterminetheeffectivenessofcircularjacketedcabletoplugseal,orflatcabletoplugsealorinterfacetowithstandstrainunderrepeatedalternatingcable-flexingstressesasexperiencedinusewithcablestrain-reliefdesignelectricalconnectors.1.2Potentialfailuremodes1.2.1Damagetothecabletoplugseal(includingmoldedbootsandstrainreliefs)orcablejacketthatcouldallowundesiredsubstances(air,water,etc.)toenter,andtofurtherdeterioratethesealorjacket,ultimatelyimpairingtheeffectivenessofeitherorboth.1.2.2Weakeningordestructionofconductortocontactjoint(s)resultinginimproperordefectiveelectricalperformance.1.2.3Intermittentorcompleteshortingbetweenconductorsduringandaftertest.1.2.4Evidenceofdiscontinuitybetweenconductorsduringandaftertest.2Testresources2.1Equipment2.1.1TestconditionI,circularjacketcable2.1.1.1Apparatuscableofapplyingforcestoamoldedplugassembly,soastocausesuchassemblytobeflexedinaplane,through180°arc,alternatelyfromaposition90°fromtheverticalononesidetoaposition90°fromtheverticalontheotherside,atanadjustablefrequencythatincludesafrequencyof12to14completecycles(of360°totaltraverse)perminute;seefigure1.中国可靠性网http://www.kekaoxing.com EIA-364-41CPage22.1.1.2Roller(orrolls):Twosmooth,cylindrical,equal-diametersteel,fixedposition.Diameteroftherollersshallbeapproximatelybutnotlessthan2-1/2timesthemaximumdiameterofthecablefordiameterslessthan20mm(0.8in)orasspecifiedinthereferencingdocument.2.1.1.3Equipmentforcheckingtheelectricalcontinuityoftheconductor-to-contactjoints,priorto,during,andsubsequenttotesting.2.1.1.4Equipment,suchasmagnifiers(approximately3X)forexaminingcable-to-plugsealorcablejacketpriortoandsubsequenttotesting.2.1.2TestconditionII,flatcable2.1.2.1Afixturecapableofgrippingthecable305mm(12in)fromtheconnectorwithuniformtensionof350N/m±20N/m(2.0lb/in±0.1lb/in)ofcablewidthandcapableofmovingeitherthecableorconnectorthroughanarcof140°±10°;seefigure2,method2.2.1.2.2Equipmentcapableofmonitoringcurrentof100mAandtoindicateadiscontinuityof1microsecondorlongerinterruptionofcurrentflow.3Testspecimen3.1DescriptionThetestspecimenshallconsistofacableterminatedtoaplugorreceptacle.3.2Preparation3.2.1TestconditionI,circularjacketcableThetestspecimenshallbemountedasshowinfigure1withthefollowingconditions:3.2.1.1Itscableislooselybutalmosttangentiallysituatedbetweenthetworollersthatarespacedfartherapartthanthemaximumdiameterofthecable,see2.1.1.2.3.2.1.2Thebondedjointatthejunctionofthemoldedbootandthecablejacketshallbelocatedapproximatelyat45°abovethecenterlinethroughthetworollsasshowninfigure1,inthecaseinthatthereisnocableclampwithinthemoldedboot.Ifthemoldedbootcontainsacableclamp,thedimensionX(seefigure1)inthereferencingdocumentshallbeusedtodeterminethepositionofthebondedjoint(atthejunctionofthemoldedbootandthecablejacket).Thisisnecessarytopreventdamagetotheinternalclampduringflexingovertherollers.
