3、yhydrophobicsubstratescanberunhomoge-neously,withsubsequentphaseseparationforproductpurificationandcatalystreuse.Oneexampledemonstratedisthedimethylether(DME)-watersystem,whichhasbeenemployedasabenignalternativetoorganicsolventsforalcoholdehydrogenase(ADH)-ca
4、talyzedreductionofhydrophobicketonescoupledwithregenerationofthecofactorNADH.WealsoshowthefeasibilityofabiphasicDME-waterseparationschemetocouplewiththebiocatalyticreaction.Thesubsequentdownstreamprocessingofferstheadvantagesofeasilyisolatingwater-insolublepr
5、oductsfromtheaqueousphaseandrecyclingenzyme-cofactor.OtherOATSsystemsarediscussedwherethepreferentialdissolutionofmodestpressuresofCO2causesphaseseparations,whichresultinverylargedistributioncoefficientsoftargetmoleculesinthebiphasicorganic-aqueoussystem,with
