1、1.NameandSeatTheAssociationnamed"SEMANTICWEBSCIENCEASSOCIATION(SWSA,registeredassociation)",hasitsseatinKarlsruheandisregisteredintheofficialregisterofsocietiesandassociations.Theassociationisapurelynon-profitmakingorganisation,theobjectivesofwhicharepursuedinadirectan
2、dexclusiveway,inaccordancewiththechapter“Taxfavoredpurposes”oftheGermanFiscalCode.TheSemanticWebaimsataddingsemanticstotheWebcontentandthusmakingitinterpretablebymachines.2.ObjectivesTheorganisation’sobjectivesaretopromotethescientificaspectsoftheSemanticWeb.Theassocia
3、tion’sactivitiesareselfless;itsmainobjectivesdonotconcernanyofitsowneconomicinterests.Resourcesoftheassociationmaybeusedonlyforpurposesthatarespecifiedinthestatutes.Membersoftheassociationdonotreceivepaymentsfromtheassociation.Nobodymaybefavouredbyexpenseswhichareextra
4、neoustotheassociation’sproperobjectives,orbydisproportionateremunerations.3.ActivitiesFulfilmentoftheassociation'sobjectivesincludes,amongothers,a)supervisionoftheorganisationoftheInternationalSemanticWebConferenceseries(ISWC),b)theorganisationandsupportofworkshops,tut
5、orials,orsummerschoolsinthefieldoftheSemanticWeb,c)co-operationwithscientificjournalsrelatedtotheSemanticWeb.Inordertorealiseitsobjectives,theassociationisallowedtoco-operatewithotherscientificassociations,institutionsorcompanies,includingmembershipinotherorganisations
6、havingsimilarobjectives. 4.MembershipandVotingTheassociationconsistsof·fullmembers,and·honorarymembers.4.1ThepreconditiontobecomeafullmemberistheoreticalorpracticalexperienceregardingtheSemanticWeb.Membershipisputintoeffectbythemanagingcommitteeonwrittendemand,whichmus
7、tbesupportedbytwofullmembers.Membershipisdefinedaccordingtotherulesasspecifiedinsection5.4.2Inordertobecomeanhonorarymember,anypersonwhohasdoneextraordinaryservicestotheSemanticWebortheSemanticWebScienceAssociationmustbeformallysuggestedbyatleasttwofullmembers.Honorary
