2、llsandbatteries(seeUNNos.3090and3091,andtheapplicablespecialprovisionsofChapter3.3oftheModelRegulations).38.3.2Scope38.3.2.1Lithiumcellsandbatteriesshallbesubjectedtothetests,asrequiredbyspecialprovisions188and230ofChapter3.3oftheModelRegulationsprior
3、tothetransportofaparticularcellorbatterytype.Lithiumcellsorbatterieswhichdifferfromatestedtypeby:(a)Forprimarycellsandbatteries,achangeofmorethan0.1gor20%bymass,whicheverisgreater,tothecathode,totheanode,ortotheelectrolyte;(b)Forrechargeablecellsandba
4、tteries,achangeinWatt-hoursofmorethan20%oranincreaseinvoltageofmorethan20%;or(c)Achangethatwouldmateriallyaffectthetestresults,".shallbeconsideredanewtypeandshallbesubjectedtotherequiredtests.Intheeventthatalithiumcellorbatterytypedoesnotmeetoneormore
5、ofthetestrequirements,stepsshallbetakentocorrectthedeficiencyordeficienciesthatcausedthefailurebeforesuchcellorbatterytypeisretested.38.3.2.2Forthepurposesofclassification,thefollowingdefinitionsapply:Aggregatelithiumcontentmeansthesumofthegramsoflith
6、iumcontentorlithiumequivalentcontentcontainedbythecellscomprisingabattery.Batterymeansoneormorecellswhichareelectricallyconnectedtogetherbypermanentmeans,includingcase,terminals,andmarkings.NOTE:Unitsthatarecommonlyreferredtoas“batterypack”,“modules”o
7、r“Batteryassemblies”havingtheprimaryfunctionofprovidingasourceofpowertoanotherpieceofequipmentareforpurposesoftheseRegulationstreatedasbatteries.Buttoncellorbatterymeansaroundsmallcellorbatterywhentheoverallheightislessthanthediameter.Cellmeansasingle
