4、Atthecenterofthisfestivalarethedragonboatraces.Competingteamsdrivetheircolorfuldragonboatsforwardtotherhythmofbeatingdrums.Theseexcitingraceswereinspiredbythevillager'svaliantattemptstorescueChuYuanfromtheMiLoriver.Thistraditionhasremainedunbrokenforcenturies.AnotheractivityoftheFest
5、ivalisthemakingandeatingofakindofdumplingcalledTzungtzu.WhenitbecameknownthatChuYuanwasgoneforever,thepeople,livingalongtheriver,threwcookedriceintothewaterasasacrificetotheirdeadhero.Theywrappedriceinbambooleave,andstuffeditwithham,beans,beanpaste,saltedeggyokes,sausages,nuts,and/or
6、vegetables. TotheChinesethefifthlunarmoonismorethanjusttheDragonBoatFestival.Sinceantiquity,theyhavebelievedthatthismonthisapestilentialanddanger-fraughtperiod.Childrenborninthismontharesaidtobedifficulttoraise,andpeopletendtoconcentratetheireffortsduringthistimeattemptingtoprotectt
