5、,itsroleintheprocessofspermiogenesisislargelyunknown.Theaimofthecurrentstudywastodeterminetheinvivoroleofautophagyandtheoriginofautophagosomemembranebiogenesiswithinmalehaploidcells.OurimmunohistochemistryresultsdemonstratedthatLC3andATG7localizationwereincreaseddramaticallyinroundtoelonga

6、tedspermatids(haploidcells)towardsthelumenofseminiferoustubules,however,poorlyexpressedintheearlystagesofgermcellsnearthebasalmembrane.Moreover,transmissionelectronmicroscopyrevealedthatthenumbersoflysosomesandautophagosomesincreasedintheelongatedspermatidsasspermiogenesisprogressed.Howeve

7、r,noevidencewasfoundforthepresenceofautophagosomesintheSertolicells,spermatogoniaorearlyprimaryspermatocytes(diploidcells).Furthermore,TEMshowedthatmanyendoplasmicreticulaweretransformedintoa“chrysanthemumflowercenter,”fromwhichadouble-layeredisolationmembrane
