2、turingstaffonolithice-universityofthefutureisthedevelopmentofaglobalmarketinelectroniccoursematerialsatthetopiclevel.Electroniclecturesprovidealoarketforpractisingacademics.UsingastyledevelopedatBournemouthUniversity,e-lecturesareeasytopreparefromexis
3、tinglecturematerials.Traditionaluniversitylecturingisarelativelyformalpedagogicmechanismsoe-lecturesdonotrequireafullunderstandingofcurrentlearningtheories,entofthemoreinteractiveaspectsofuniversityeducationatadistancesuchasonlineseminardiscussions.It
4、isenvisagedthatacademiclecturingstaffofthefutureaacademicstaffthusmaintainingcontroloverthecontentandstyleoftheirunits,e-lecturesmaybeusedintraditional,campus-baseduniversitiesasentofaglobale-lecturemarketcanbegradual,aterialseal,thusalloiliar,modeofd

7、iesextremelyplexorganisations,buttheicstaffishighlyvaried.HailesandHazemi(1998),forexample,identifytajorclassesofactivityundertakenbymostacademicstaff.Inaddition,academics’styleofesubjectareaanduchadviceanddebate,thereislittleconsensusongoodpractice,e
8、venifpoorpracticecanbeidentified.Furthermore,manyacademicsare‘odd’peopleinthattheyaresomeofthemostableintheirfieldyetareusuallyextremelypoorlypaidinparisontothoseerce.Fairlyobviously,manyacademicsarepreparedtosacrificefinancialreanysimilarcoun
