3、oductioninthereceptorlanguageofthemessageofthesourcelanguageinsuchawaythatthereceptorsinthereceptorlanguagemaybeabletounderstandadequatelyhowtheoriginalreceptorofthesourcelanguageunderstoodtheoriginalmessage”.Heinsiststhatanythingexpressedinonelanguagecanneverthelessbeexpressedina

4、notherlanguage;peoplewithdifferentlanguagesfromdifferentculturescansurelycommunicatewitheachother,byseekingequivalence,reorganizingtheformandthesemanticstructureoftheoriginalmessage,inproperways,ofcourse.Allthisshowsusthatthecognitiveabilityofanynationwillnevergetrestrictedowingto

5、its“backward”languagestructure.Thenhowtoseekequivalencebecomesthecoreofthetranslationstudies,bothintheoryandpractice.Manyexcellenttranslationcriticsandworkershavedevotedthemselvestothiscoreproblem,andhaveundoubtedlymadegreatcontributionstothestudyofit.Whilesourcelanguageandtargetl

6、anguageareneverthelesstwodifferentlanguagesintheworld.theyallhavetheiruniqueabilityofformingaword,theiruniquewordorder,theiruniquesignsofdiscourse.Theyhave,atthesametime,differentspeciallanguageformssuchasproverbsandpoems.Differencesbetweentwowidelydifferentlanguages,especiallyirr
