4、atetheaestheticvalueofthework．Duringtheprocessofreading，thereaderisstimulatedtOrecalltherelativeculturalbackgroundknowledgetofillinthevacanciesleftbythesourcetextauthorSOthathecanobtaincoherentunderstanding．However,thesourcetextauthorandthetargettextreaders，differingintheircognitiveenv

5、ironments，lackthecommonviewabouttheculturalbackgroundknowledge．Culturaldefaultconstantlyresultsinmisleadingthetranslatorsorthetargettextreaders，orevenbringingbarriersofunderstanding．Therefore，itisregardedasagreatchallengeforthetranslatorstodealwiththetranslationofculturaldefault．Intran

6、slation，thephenomenonofculturaldefaultinthesourcetextisoftenregardedtobeabarrierandscholarsstrivetofindagoodstrategyforit．Afteralongperiodofsearch，theyfocusontheargumentforadoptionofforeignizationordomestication．BasedonstudiesofNida’Sfunctionalequivalencetheory,thisthesisprobesintothet
