4、toaninternationalmetropolis，especiallyafterthe29thOlympicGamesin2008andtheWorldExpositionin2010wereheldsuccessfullyinBeijingandShanghairespectively,forwhichagoodembodimentisthetranslationworkofpublicsignsintoEnglish．However,itisdemonstratedthatproblemsofvariouskindsdetectedinEng

5、lishversionsofChinesepublicsignshaverenderedthetranslationworkfarfrombeingqualified，letalonetofacilitateforeigners’everydayactivitiesandtoimprovetheimagesofChinesecities．Therefore，itisofsignificancetocarryoutresearchesontheverysubject．Basedonareviewofpreviousstudiesandareflectio
