3、mobilityofInternethostsatthenetworklayer.MobileIPsuffersfromanumberofdrawbackssuchasrequirementofinfrastructurechange,highhandoverlatency,highpacketlossrate,andconflictwithnetworksecuritysolutions.Inthispaper,wedescribethearchitectureofSeamlessIPdiversity-basedGeneralizedMobility

4、Architecture(SIGMA)-anewmobilitymanagementscheme.SIGMAutilizesIPdiversitytoachieveseamlesshandover,andisdesignedtosolvemanyofthedrawbacksofMobileIP,includingrequirementforchangesininfrastructure.ThesurvivabilityandsecurityofSIGMAisevaluatedandshownthatSIGMAhasahighersurvivabilit

5、ythanMobileIP-thankstoitscentralizedlocationmanagementscheme.SIGMAcaninteroperatewithexistingnetworksecurityinfrastructuressuchasIngressfilteringandIPSecfairlyeasily.WealsoshowtheapplicationofSIGMAtomanagesatellitehandoversinspacenetworks.1INTRODUCTIONMIPisknowntohaveconflictwithn

6、etworksecu-ritysolutions(Perkins,1998).BaseMIPdoesnotco-MobileIP(MIP)(Perkins,2002;Perkins,1998)hasoperatewellwhentheHAisbehindafirewallandthebeendesignedtohandlemobilityofInternethostsatMHisoutsidethefirewall,unlessfirewalltransver-thenetworklayer.ItallowsaTCPconnectiontosalsoluti
