3、ntoftheknowledgeandskillswhichlanguagestudentsbringwiththemfromtheirmothertongueandtheirexperienceoftheworld.IntroductionThereisnothingsocreativeasagooddogma.Duringthelastfewyears,undertheinfluenceoftheCommunicativeApproach,languageteachingseemstohavemadegreatprogress.Syllabusdesi

4、gnhasbecomeagooddealmoresophisticated,andweareabletogiveourstudentsabetterandmorecompletepicturethanbeforeofhowlanguageisused.Inmethodology,thechangehasbeendramatic.Theboringandmechanicalexercisetypeswhichweresocommontenorfifteenyearsagohavevirtuallydisappeared,tobereplacedbyasple

5、ndidvarietyofexcitingandengagingpracticeactivities.Allthisisverypositive,anditisnotdifficulttobelievethatsuchprogressincoursedesignhasresultedinarealimprovementinthespeedandqualityoflanguagelearning.Andyet...Adogmaremainsadogma,andinthisrespectthecommunicativerevolutionislittledif
