2、ositionofthesamemeaningsindifferentlanguages,actuallyinvolvesthetranspositionofthoughtsexpressedinonelanguagebyonesocialgroupintotheappropriateexpressionofanothergroup,anditentailsaprocessofculturalde-contextualizationandre-contextualization.Withtherapidgrowthofglobalization,culturesnowada

3、ysareincreasinglybroughtintogreatercontactwithoneanother.Thiscoursewillexaminetheinterfaceofculturespresentedinseveraltheoreticaldiscoursesandliteraryworks,andbysuchexaminationthiscoursewillalsodemonstratethefactthattheformationsandreshapingofculturesareneverdivorcedfromtheceaselessworking

4、softranslationpractices.Requirement:Studentsarerequiredtoattendallclasssessionsandtoparticipateinclassdiscussions.Classparticipationmeansthatstudentsarerequiredtohavereadthetextsthoroughlyandtocometoclasspreparedtotalkaboutthem.Inaddition,eachstudentwillberequiredtodeliveratleastonepresent

5、ationonanassignedworkduringthesemester.Thesepresentationsshouldbeconceivedasexercisesinliteraryinterpretationthroughcloseanalysis,andshouldideallyhelptostimulateadiscussionthroughargumentsandquestions.Thosewhoareassignedtogivepresentationsarealsoresponsibletoleadclassdiscussions.Nomid-term

6、willbescheduled,butafinalexamwillbescheduled.Gradingassessment:AttendanceandParticipation(includingpop-quizzes):20%Presentations:40%Final:40%Attendancepolicy:Attendanceatallclassesisrequiredandisnecessaryforsatisfactoryprogressintheworkofthecourse.Studentsareexpectedtocometoclasseachweekpr

7、eparedtodiscusstheassignedreadings.Accumulatingmorethanthreeunexcusedabsenceswillgreatlylowerthefinalgradeinthecourseandmorethanone-fourthoftheclassmeetingswillautomaticallyresultinfailureofthiscourse.AbsencesexpectedtoberegardedasexcusedonesMUSTnotifytheinstr
