2、rymodeltestsandproposesasimplemethodforthedesignofgeocell-supportedembankments.Modelembankmentswereconstructedabovealayerofgeocellsformedusinggeogridsontopofasoftclaybedpreparedinasteeltesttank.Uniformsurchargepressurewasappliedonthecrestandpressure-deformation

3、behavioroftheembankmentandstrainsinthewallsofgeocellsweremonitoredcontinuouslyuntilthefailurewasreached.TheinßuenceonthebehavioroftheembankmentofvariousparametersÑliketensilestiffnessofgeocellmaterial,heightandlengthofgeocelllayer,pocket-sizeofthecell,patternof

4、formationofgeocells,andtypeofÞllmaterialinsidethecellsÑwasstudied.Geocellreinforcementwasfoundtobeadvantageousinincreasingtheload-bearingcapacityandreducingthedeformationsoftheembankments.Theexperimentalresultswerevalidatedusingageneralpurposeslope-stabilitypro
