3、erredtoas“Ontario”WHEREASthesePartiessharethevisionofahealthy,prosperousandsustainableGreatLakesBasinEcosystem;ANDWHEREAStheOntarioprovincialandmunicipalgovernmentseachplayanimportantroleinprotectingandconservingtheGreatLakesBasinEcosystem;ANDWHEREASthePartiesrecognizethat98%ofOn
4、tariansliveintheGreatLakesBasinEcosystemanddependuponitforinfluencingclimate,drinkingwater,foodproduction,powergeneration,cultureandrecreation,andsocialwell-being;ANDWHEREASCanadaandOntariohaveenteredintotheCanada-OntarioAgreementRespectingtheGreatLakesBasinEcosystemforatermof200
5、7to2010torestore,protectandconservetheGreatLakesBasinEcosystem;ANDWHEREAStheGLSLCIisabinationalorganizationofmayorsandotherlocalofficialsinterestedinprotectingtheGreatLakesBasinEcosystemandwhosemembershipincludesOntariomunicipalities;ANDWHEREASOntariovaluesthecontributionsmunicip
6、alitieshavemadeinmanagingwaterresourcesandournaturalheritageeffectivelyandrecognizestheimportanceofmunicipalgovernmentprograms,policiesandinvestmentsinrestoring,conservingandprotectingthehealthoftheGreatLakesBasinEcosystem;ANDWHEREASthePartieswishtoengageandcommunicatewitheachoth
7、eronvariousmattersthatrelatetotheGreatLakesBasinEcosystem;NOWTHEREFOREthePartieshaveagreedasfollows:1.PURPOSEThepurposeofthisMemorandumofCooperation(MOC)istooutlinetheareasofcooperationamongthePartiesincommunicationsandengagementinsupportoftheCanada-OntarioAgreementRespectingtheG
