4、ul,expressiveandelegantmanner.ZhangZhenyu’stranslationofMomentinPekingisoneofrecommendedChineseversionsbyLinRusi,theeldestdaughterofLinYutang,andDr.WangZhaosheng,theconsultantofWorkshoponLinYutangalsodeemsZhang’stranslationversionasthebestoneatthecurrentstage.MomentinPekinghasfourChinesever
5、sions.BeforeZhangZhenyu’stranslation,in1940,EastWindPublishingHouseinBeijingpublishedtheabridgedChineseversionwiththetitleofShunXiJingHua(《瞬息京华》).ThetranslatorwasBaiLin(白林).ThiswasthefirstattempttorenderthisEnglishnoveltoChinese.Nevertheless.LinYutangwasnotgratefultoBaiLin,feelingdistainedt
6、ocastalookatthattranslation,sincehetookitforkindofdamagetotheoriginal.In1941,ShanghaiSpringandAutumnPresspublishedthefirstunabridgedChineseversionofMomentinPeking,whichwasco-translateedbyZhengtuo(郑佗)andYingYuanjie(应元杰),withthetitleofJingHuaYanYun(《京华烟云》).However,LinYutanghimselfwasnotsatisf
