3、tHighVoltageDirectCurrent(HVDC)transmissionsystemscontinuetobeanexcellentassetinmodernpowersystems,mainlyfortheirabilitytoovercometheproblemsofACtransmission,suchastheinterconnectionofasynchronousgrids,stabilityoflongtransmissionlines,anduseoflongcables
4、forpowertransmission.Inthepast20years,VoltageSourceConverter(VSC)-HVDCtransmissionsystemsweredevelopedandinstalledinmanyprojects,therebyaddingmoreoperationalbenefitstoDCtransmissionoption,suchashighcontrollability,abilitytosupplyweaknetworks,andreducedc
5、onverterreactivepowerdemand.Nevertheless,VSC-HVDCtransmissionsuffersfromthedisadvantagesofhighlossesandcost.Inthisresearch,ahybridHVDCemployingaLineCommutatedConverter(LCC)asrectifierandaVSCasinverterisusedtosupplyapassivenetworkthroughaDCcable.Thehybri
6、dsystemisbestsuitedforunidirectionalpowertransmissionscenarios,suchaspowertransmissiontoislandsandremoteloadcenters,wheretheconstructionofnewtransmissionlinesisprohibitivelyexpensive.ControlmodesfortherectifierandinverterareselectedandimplementedusingPr
7、oportionalIntegral(PI)controllers.SpecialcontrolschemesaredevelopedforabnormaloperatingconditionssuchasstartingatlightloadandrecoveringfromACnetworkfaults.ThesystemperformanceundersteadystateandtransientconditionsisinvestigatedbyEMTP-RVsimulations.There
