3、norveryclosetoit,andtheyarecapableofcommunicatingfreelyinshortdistances.PowercontrolisanimportantresearchtopicinWSNssinceitcanguaranteebasiclevelsofsystemperformance,suchasdelay,connectivity,andthroughput,inthepresenceorabsenceofmobility.Alargevarietyofsche

4、mesforpowercontrolissuesinWSNshavebeenproposedintheliterature,where-bydifferentapproachestypicallyfocusondifferentperformancemetrics.Thisarticleprovidesaclassificationandpresentsacomprehensivesurveyconcerningpassiveandactivepowercontrolmechanismsinwirelesss

5、ensornetworks,basedonthisclassification.Wealsoevaluateandcomparetheiththeproliferationinsensornodesandthedevel-•ThetopologyofaWSNchangesveryfrequently.Wopmentinwirelesscommunicationtechnologies,•ThenumberofsensornodesinaWSNcanbeseveralWirelessSensorNetworks
