3、betweenmaterialismandlifesatisfaction.Wetestnegativeaffectasamediatoroftherelationshipbetweenmaterialismanddissatisfactionwithlife,andgratitudeandpositiveaffectasmoderatorsofthiseffect.Self-reportdatacollectedfrom246(129female)undergraduatestudentsgenerallysupportedourpredictions.Thenegativerelatio
4、nshipbetweenmaterialismandlifesatisfactionwasmediatedinpartbyanincreaseinnegativeaffect.Additionally,gratitude–andtoalesserextent,positiveaffect–functionedasmoderatorsoftheeffectofmaterialismonlifesatisfaction.Individualshighingratitudeshowedlessofarelationshipbetweenmaterialismandnegativeaffect.Ad
5、ditionally,individualshighinmaterialismshoweddecreasedlifesatisfactionwheneithergratitudeorpositiveaffectwaslow.Thus,negativeaffect,positiveaffect,andgratitudeseemtobeimportantvariablesintherela-tionshipbetweenmaterialismanddissatisfactionwithlife.Keywords:materialism;gratitude;lifesatisfaction;pos
