2、lynon-convexandhenceallsolutionssatis•fyingthenecessaryconditionsforoptimalitymustbeinvestigated.Moreover,somesegmentsofthebeammaytakeonazerocross-sectionintheoptimalsolution(seeFig.3.4e,forexample)andthusthedesignerisfacedwithasimpletypeoflayoutproblem
