4、tationandanexternallyassessedessay.ThefirstcandidatestobeassessedunderthenewschemefinishedtheirDiplomaProgrammecoursesinMayorNovember2001.Assessmentproceduresneedtobeunderstoodbyallpartiesinvolved.Theessaysandcommentspresentedinthisdocumentaimtoclarifyhowtheas

5、sessmentcriteriaforthiscomponentworkinpractice.TheessaysweresubmittedinMayorNovember2001;thecommentscomefrommeetingsofseniorexaminersconvenedforthepurpose,andfromsubsequentdiscussionsone-mail.TheprojectwasdelayedaftertwomeetingsinMontrealhadtobepostponedbecaus

6、eoftheeventsof11September2001intheUnitedStates.CriteriaforSelectionofMaterialWeaimedtopublishsetsofexemplarssimultaneouslyinEnglish,FrenchandSpanish,eachincludingatleastoneessayineachgrade.Wetriedalsotoincludemorethanonehighscoringessayineachsetofexemplars,bec
