2、ormillionsandcreatingthesocialhubsaroundwhichourcommunitiesarebuilt.Throughoutitslonghistory,industryhasprovenitsabilitytoleadchange.AnditmustnowdothesameasEuropeembarksonitstransitiontowardsclimateneutralityanddigitalleadershipinanever-changingandevermoreunpredictableworld.Thetwineco

3、logicalanddigitaltransitionswillaffecteverypartofoureconomy,societyandindustry.Theywillrequirenewtechnologies,withinvestmentandinnovationtomatch.Theywillcreatenewproducts,services,marketsandbusinessmodels.Theywillshapenewtypesofjobsthatdonotyetexistwhichneedskillsthatwedonotyethave.An

4、dtheywillentailashiftfromlinearproductiontoacirculareconomy.Thesetransitionswilltakeplaceinatimeofmovinggeopoliticalplateswhichaffectthenatureofcompetition.TheneedforEuropetoaffirmitsvoice,upholditsvaluesandfightforalevelplayingfieldismoreimportantthanever.ThisisaboutEurope’ssovereign

5、ty.Thebreadthanddepth,thescaleandspeed,thenatureandnecessityofthetwintransitionsareunprecedented.ThisisreflectedinPresidentvonderLeyen’sPoliticalGuidelines,theprioritiessetoutbytheEuropeanParliamentandtheEuropeanCouncil’sStrategicAgenda2019-2024.TheEuropeanGreenDeal1andtheCommission’s

6、recentStrategyonShapingEurope’sDigitalFuture2settheambition,speedanddirectionoftravelfortheyearstocome.WenowneedanewindustrialwayforEurope,fitfortheambitionsoftodayandtherealitiesoftomorrow.AttheheartofthisistheabilityofEurope’sindustrytoleadthetwintransitionsanddriveourcompetitivenes

7、s.Itcannotaffordtosimplyadapt–itmustnowbecometheacceleratorandenablerofchangeandinnovation.Ourindustrialpolicymusthelpmakethisambitionareality.Europe’sindustrialstrategymustreflectourvaluesandsocialmarkettraditions.Wewillrelyonourstrengths:ourdiversityandtalent,ourvaluesandwayoflife,o
