3、singpoliciesfortwoofthewell-knownmodelscalledtheNerlove-ArrowmodelandtheVidale-Wolfemodel.Todescribethespecificproblemsimderconsideration,letusassimiethatafirmhassomewayofknowingorestimatingthedynamicsofsalesandadvertising.Suchknowledgeisexpressedintermsof

4、adifferentialequationwithgoodwillorrateofsalesasthestatevariableandtherateofadvertisingexpendituresasthecontrolvariable.Weassumethatthefirmwishestomaximizeanobjectivefunction(thecriterionfunction)whichrefiectsitsprofitmotivesexpressedintermsofsalesandadver
