3、ichtobuildadeepunderstandingoffirmperformanceinmarketsettings.Ourreview:(1)describestheprimaryelementsofthetheory;(2)highlightsimportantblindspotsthatitresolveswithrespecttoexistingtheoreticalapproaches;(3)callsattentiontoseveralofitsnovelinsights;and(4)summarizesamyriadofappli
4、cationsandempiricalstudiesthathaveappearedinrecentyearsusingvaluecapturetheory.Managerialsummary:Traditionally,theoreticalclaimsinstrategicmanagementhavebeensupportedbyinformal,qualitativereasoning.Recently,however,anewlineoftheoreticalworkbaseduponmathematicalmethods,knownas“v
5、aluecapturetheory,”hasbeengaininginpopularity.Thisarticlereviewstherecentadvancesinthislinewithaparticularemphasisuponanumberofitsimportantinsights,severalofwhichchallengelongstandingpropositionsfromthetraditionalline.Formanagers,theformalnatureofvaluecapturetheoryiswell-aligne
