2、donbloodpressure.Studyresultsindicatedthatelevatedbloodpressureswerereducedbyaneatingplanthatemphasizesfruits,vegetables,andlowfatdairyfoodsandislowinsaturatedfat,totalfat,andcholesterol.TheDASHeatingplanincludeswholegrains,poultry,fish,andnutsandhasreducedamountsoffats,redmeats,sweets,andsugaredbev
3、erages.Asecondclinicalstudy,called"DASH-Sodium,"lookedattheeffectofareduceddietarysodiumintakeonbloodpressureaspeoplefollowedeithertheDASHeatingplanoratypicalAmericandiet.ResultsshowedthatreducingdietarysodiumloweredbloodpressureforboththeDASHeatingplanandthetypicalAmericandiet.Thebiggestbloodpressu
4、re-loweringbenefitswereforthoseeatingtheDASHeatingplanatthelowestsodiumlevel(1,500milligramsperday).TheDASH-Sodiumstudyshowstheimportanceofloweringsodiumintakewhateveryourdiet.Butforatruewinningcombination,followtheDASHeatingplanandloweryourintakeofsaltandsodium.
