4、fEnglishpragmaticcompetenceofChinesecollegestudents.Thisstudyintendstoexplorethemaincausesofcollegestudents’lowpragmaticcompetenceandfeasiblewaystothecultivationofpragmaticcompetence,soastoachievethegoalofCollegeEnglishTeaching.2.TheCurrentSituationofCollegeEnglishTeachingCollegeEnglishtea

5、chingreacheditsheightinthelate1990sforthreemajorreasons.Thefirstreasonis,ofcourse,theimportanceandnecessityofEnglishincommunicationandworkbecauseoftheincreasingopportunitiesofinternationalinteraction.WiththerapiddevelopmentofChineseeconomy,moreandmoreworld-famouscompaniessetuptheirbranches

6、inChina.Englishgotthefirstplaceinthecollegecoursesforstudentswhowishedtoseizethechancesofworkinginthosecompaniesandjointventures.Thesecondreasonistheissueofthenation-wideCollegeEnglishTest(CET4andCET6).Manycompaniesandworkingunitstookthecertificatesasthelanguageproficiencyandmanyuniversiti
