3、urseofChineseBibletranslation．TheChineseBibletranslationhasahistoryofover1300yearssinceTangDynasty．AstherapiddevelopmentofChristianityinChina，variousversionsofChineseBiblewereborn．Amongthoseversions，TCV(Today’SChineseVersionoftheBible)，undertheguidanceofNida

4、’S“functionalequivalence"，istranslatedforbothChristianandnon—Christians．Itismoreacceptableandintelligiblethanotherversions．Meanwhile，asapartoftheBible，thepsalmswerealsointroducedtoChinawiththeChineseBibletranslation．Onthebasisof“functionalequivalence”，thispa

5、perisdesignedtoanalyzethepsalmsinTCVSOastotestifytheefficiencyof‘‘functionalequivalence"intranslatingpsalmsintoChinese．‘‘Functionalequivalence’’wasfirstproposedbyEugeneNidain1964as"dynamicequivalence”．Itisdefinedintermsofdegreetowhichthereceptorsofthemassage

6、inthereceptorlanguagerespondtoitsubstantiallythesamemannerasthereceptorsinthesourcelanguage．NumerousBibletranslationshaveappearedundertheguidanceofthistheory,amongwhichthemostpopularisTCV．Thispaperhasacasestudyonthetranslationofpsalmsfromtheperspectiveof“fun

7、ctionalequivalence”intermsoflevelsofwords，sentencesandpassages．Itprovesthat“functionalequivalence’’theoryisapplicableinpsalmstranslationandcanbeservedastheguidelineforpsalmstranslatortofollow．Inaddition，italsopointsoutthat“functionalequivalence”isnotperfect．
