2、oundthemselvesfailtoinitiateandimplementISseffectively.The“culturalgap”betweenCIOandtopmanagementteam(TMT),referedtoasISsleadershipteam(ISLT),inunderstandingabouttheroleofISshasbeenbeingregardedasamajorobstacletoISsuccess.ISLTwithdeficientcommunicationcannotsynergeticlytakechargeoforganizatio
3、nalchagerelatedtoorfueledbyIT.Sharedunderstanding(SU)betweenCIOandTMTcanfacilitatethealignmentofISswithbusinessandISssuccess,whichinturnpredictsbothISsandbusinessperformance.BasedonCommunicationConvergencetheoryandSocialExchangetheory,thisdissertationconstructedaresearchmodeltodepicttheeffect
4、mechanismsofISLTcommunicationonSU,andprovidedthreekindsofhypotheses,whichwereabouttheeffectsofcommunication,sharedknowledgeandmutualtrust,themediatingroleofsharedknowledgeandtrust,andthediscrepancyofSUoncontrolvariables.Mixedapproach,surveyresearchcombinedwithcasestudy,directedthedatacollecti
5、on.Atotalof232organizationslocatedin12provinceswereinvestigated,followedby10CIOsinterview.Withasurveyof137CIO/TMTmatchedpairs,theresearchtestedthehypothesesusingfactoranalysis,varianceanalysis,structuralequationmodelingandotherstatisticalmethods.Theempirialresultsandthecasestudyfinding(from4c
6、ases)werediscussedtogether.Thelastsectionofthisdissertationpresentedthelimitationsandimpliationsforpraticeandfutureresearch.Ingeneral,themainconclusionsandtheoreticalcontributionsoftheresearchincludedasfollowings:(1)ThecontructofISsroleandSUweremodified.ISsroleconsistedofcurrentroleandfuturer
