2、ractandExecutiveSummaryAllpowersystemoperatorsensuretheirsystemsadheretothermallimitsontransmissionlinesinordertoavoidlinedeformation.Also,thermallimitsareusedassurrogatesforvoltagestability.TheIEEEtestproblemsdonotincludedataontheselimits.Thepurposeofthispaperistopresentasimplemethodforco

3、nstructingcurrentmagnitudeconstraintsandtoreportonthecomputationalpropertiesinsolvingtheresultingproblems.Thispaperfindslimitsonthemaximumallowablecurrentmagnitudethatresultinafeasiblesolutionforthe14‐bus,30‐bus,57‐bus,and118‐busIEEEtestproblems.Foreachtestproblem,onesinglelimitisappliedto

4、alllinesthatmakestheoptimalsolutionwithouttheselimitsinfeasible.Foreachproblemwedevelopa‘tight’anda‘loose’constraint.Wesolvetheresultingproblemusingthecurrentvoltageformulation.Differenttestproblemsexhibitdifferentcharacteristics.IncludingtheseconstraintsintheACOPFincreasesthesolutiontimeb
