3、WeurgetheSenatetojointhemajorityofAmericanswhoknowthatthetimeforactionisnowbysupportingeffective,comprehensiveclimatelegislationthat:1.TransitionsusawayfromdirtyfossilfuelsofthepastandtowardsthecleanenergyofthefutureEnsurethatweendtheconstructionofnewdirty
4、coalplantsthatuseoutdatedtechnology,andmoveusawayfromthedirtyfuelsofthepastbymakingsurethattheoldest,dirtiestcoalplantscontroltheirpollution.2.TakesseriousstepstocuttingglobalwarmingpollutionassoonaspossibleCutcarbonfromfossilfuelsatleast20percentby2020.As
5、lowstartoverthenextdecadewillmeanplayingcatch-uplater,nottomentionlesschanceofabindingglobaltreaty,andmoresevereclimateimpacts.3.MaximizescleanenergyjobsforAmericaMaximizethenumberofallowancesusedtocreatecleanenergyjobsandtrainworkerstofillthem.Establishef
6、fectiverenewableelectricityandenergyefficiencyresourcestandardsthatallowustopivotawayfromdirtyfuelsandaddmorecleanenergyjobstotheU.S.economy.Withthesechanges,andnofurtherweakening,H.R.2454hasthepotentialto:•Usherinapowerfulcleanenergyeconomystrongenoughtoc
7、reatemillionsofcareer-trackgreen-collarjobsforAmericanworkers.•Savehundredsofbillionsofdollarsinenergycosts,cuttingenergywasteforconsumersandbusinessesacrosstheeconomybyencouraginginvestmentinefficientbuildings,appliances,vehicles,andindustrialprocesses.Cl
8、eanenergyinvestmentsandmoneysenttoconsumerswillallowtheoverwhelmingmajorityofAmericanstoachieveoverallenergycostsavings,whilereducingrelianceondirtyfuelsnationwide.•Reduceourdangerousdependenceonforeignoiland
