3、life(QoL)andsymptomimprovementthancontrolsubjects.TheobjectivesweretocomparechangesinvalidatedQoLandsymptommeasurementsamongchildrenrandomizedtoundergoadenotonsillectomyorwatchfulwaiting;todeterminewhetherrace,weight,orbaselineOSASseverityinfluencedchangesinQoLandsympt
4、oms;andtoevaluateassociationsbetweenchangesinQoLorsymptomsandOSASseverity.METHODS:Childrenaged5to9.9yearswithOSAS(N=453)wererandomlyassignedtoundergoadenotonsillectomyorwatchfulwaitingwithsupportivecare.Polysomnography,thePediatricQualityofLifeinventory,theSleep-Relat
5、edBreathingScaleofthePediatricSleepQuestionnaire,the18-itemObstructiveSleepApneaQoLinstrument,andthemodifiedEpworthSleepinessScalewerecompletedatbaselineand7months.ChangesintheQoLandsymptomsurveyswerecomparedbetweenarms.Effectmodificationaccordingtoraceandobesityandasso
6、ciationsbetweenchangesinpolysomnographicmeasuresandQoLorsymptomswereexamined.RESULTS:GreaterimprovementsinmostQoLandsymptomseveritymeasurementswereobservedinchildrenrandomizedtoundergoadenotonsillectomy,includingtheparent-completedPediatricQualityofLifeinventory(effec
7、tsize[ES]:0.37),the18-itemObstructiveSleepApneaQoLinstrument(ES:–0.93),themodifiedEpworthSleepinessScalescore(ES:–0.42),andtheSleep-RelatedBreathingScaleofthePediatricSleepQuestionnaire(ES:–1.35).Effectmodificationwasnotobservedbyobesityorbaselineseveritybutwasnotedforr
