6、ambridgeElectronAccelerator,ajointlaboratoryofHarvardUniversityandMIT.HethenspentthenexttenyearsworkingasSeniorPhysicistatCERN,Geneva.In1983hebecameaprofessoratStanfordUniversity,workingontheStanfordLinearCollider(SLC)andonoptimizingthestorageringsSPEARa
7、ndPEPforsynchrotron-radiationuse.HespenttwoyearsasheadoftheSLACbeam-dynamicsgroup.HethenreturnedtoCERN,in1987,andwasjointlyresponsibleforthecommissioningoftheLargeElectron–Positronring(LEP).Afteritscompletion,heworkedonaccelerator-physicsproblemswiththis
