2、televisionbroadcastersandprogrammeproducersindigitalstudiostandardswhichhavethegreatestnumberofsignificantparametervaluescommonto525-lineand625-linesystems;b)thataworldwidecompatibledigitalapproachwillpermitthedevelopmentofequipmentwithmanycommonfeatures,permitoperatingeconomiesandfa

3、cilitatetheinternationalexchangeofprogrammes;c)thatanextensiblefamilyofcompatibledigitalcodingstandardsisdesirable.Membersofsuchafamilycouldcorrespondtodifferentqualitylevels,facilitateadditionalprocessingrequiredbypresentproductiontechniques,andcaterforfutureneeds;d)thatasystembased

4、onthecodingofcomponentsisabletomeetsome,andperhapsall,ofthesedesirableobjectives;e)thattheco-sitingofsamplesrepresentingluminanceandcolour-differencesignals(or,ifused,thered,greenandbluesignals)facilitatestheprocessingofdigitalcomponentsignals,requiredbypresentproductiontechniques,re

5、commendsthatthefollowingbeusedasabasisfordigitalcodingstandardsfortelevisionstudiosincountriesusingthe525-linesystemaswellasinthoseusingthe625-linesystem:1.ComponentcodingThedigitalcodingshouldbebasedontheuseofoneluminanceandtwocolour-differencesignals(or,ifused,thered,greenandbluesi

6、gnals).Thespectralcharacteristicsofthesignalsmustbecontrolledtoavoidaliasingwhilstpreservingthepass-bandresponse.Whenusingoneluminanceandtwocolour-differencesignalsasdefinedinTable1suitablefiltersaredefinedinFigs.4and5.WhenusingER¢,EG¢,EB¢signalsorluminanceandcolour-differencesignals

7、asdefinedinTable2asuitablefiltercharacteristicisshowninFig.4.2.ExtensiblefamilyofcompatibledigitalcodingstandardsThedigitalcodingshouldallowtheestablishmentandevolutionofanextensiblefamilyofcompatibledigitalcodingstandards.Itshouldbepossibletointerfacesimplybetweenanytwomembersofthef
