3、IC-21andJ774A.1)wereinoculatedwitheightmurinecoronaviruses,includingprototypestrainsofbothpolytropicandenterotropicbiotypes,andnewisolates.Allvirusstrainsproducedacytopathiceffect(CPE)withcell-to-cellfusioninB16,DBT,IC-21andJ774A.1cells.TheCPEwasinducedmostrapidlyinIC-21c

4、ellsandwasvisiblemicroscopicallyinallcelllinestested.Incontrast,thecoronavirusesproducedlittleCPEinA3-1MandCMT-93cells.Althoughmostvirus-infectedcells,exceptKQ3E-infectedA3-1M,CMT-93andJ774A.1cells,producedprogenyvirusesinthesupernatantswhenassayedbyplaqueformationonDBTce

5、lls,thekineticsofviralreplicationweredependentonboththecelllineandvirusstrain;replicationofprototypestrainswashigherthanthatofnewisolates.Therewasnosignificantdifferenceinreplicationofenterotropicandpolytropicstrains.B16cellssupportedthehighestlevelofviralreplication.Tode

6、terminethesensitivityofthecelllinestomurinecoronaviruses,the50%tissuecultureinfectiousdoseofthecoronaviruseswasdeterminedwithB16,DBT,IC-21andJ774A.1cells,andcomparedtothatwithDBTcells.TheresultsindicatethatIC-21cellswerethemostsensitivetomurinecoronaviruses.Thesedatasugge
