3、ypicrespiratorystrainsofmurinecoronaviruses.Inanefforttodeterminewhichviralproteinsmightbedeterminantsofenterotropism,im-munoblotsofMHV-YandMHV-RIvirionsusinganti-S,-Nand-Mprotein-specificantiserawereperformed.TheuncleavedMHV-YandMHV-RISproteinsmigratedslightlyfasterthanthe

4、MHV-A59Sprotein.TheMHV-YSproteinwasinefficientlycleaved.TheMHV-Y,MHV-RIandMHV-A59NandMproteinsshowedonlyminordifferencesintheirmigration.TheSgenesofMHV-YandMHV-RIwerecloned,sequencedandfoundtoencode1361and1376aminoacidlongproteins,respectively.Thepresenceofseveralaminoacids

5、changesupstreamfromthepredictedcleavagesiteoftheMHV-YSproteinmaycontributeitsinefficientcleavage.AhighdegreeofhomologywasfoundbetweentheMHV-RIandMHV-4Sproteins,whereasthehomologybetweentheMHV-YSproteinandtheSproteinsofotherMHVstrainswasmuchlower.Theseresultsindicatethatthee
