3、n.PiperiayadoniiisrestrictedtoasingleCaliforniacountywithinabiodiversityhotspot.Weusednineprimerstogenerateintersimplesequencerepeat(ISSR)datatoas-sessitsgeneticdiversityandstructure.Withineachpopulation,99%ofthelociwerepolymorphic,expectedheterozygositywas

4、low,andamajorityofthelociweresharedwithfewotherpopulations.Fortypercentofthetotalvariationcouldbeattributedtopopulationdifferentiationwhiletherest(60%)resideswithinpopulations,andthegeneticdistancesbetweenpopulationswereindependentofthecorrespondinggeograph

5、icaldistances.Highdivergenceamongpopulationsislikelyduetofragmentationandlimitedgeneflow.Eachpopulationcontainsseveralprivateloci,andideally,eachshouldbeprotectedtopreservetheoveralldi-versityofthespecies.BecauseP.yadoniicurrentlyretainsamodestamountofgeneti
