3、dmachinability.Recently,anumberofmetallicglasseshavingatemperaturerangeofsupercooledliquidabove60Kbeforecrystallizationandhighglass-formingabilityhavebeendiscov-eredinZr-,Pd-,La-,Mg-andPt-basedalloys(1±7).WehavereportedthattheZr65Al10Ni10Cu152221metallicglas
4、sexhibitssuperplastic-likebehaviorathighstrainratesabove1310sandattemperaturesabovetheglasstransitiontemperature(8).TheZr65Al10Ni10Cu15metallicglassis,therefore,promisingfortheproductionofalarge-scalebulkmetallicglassbypowderconsolidation(1±5,9,10)andtheshap
5、ingofcomplex-shapedcomponents(11).Inthisstudy,wewillreportthesuperplastic-likedeformationbehaviorofaPd40Ni40P20(at.%)metallicglass.ExperimentalProcedureAnalloyingotwaspreparedbyarcmeltingpuremetalsinapurifiedargonatmosphere.Ametallicglass2ribbonwithacrosssec
6、tionofabout1.230.02mmwasproducedbyasingle-rollermelt-spinningmethodinanargonatmosphere.TheformationofasingleglassyphasewasconfirmedbyX-ray-diffractometryandtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM).Thethermalpropertiesweremeasuredbydifferentialscanningcalorimetry(
7、DSC)anddifferentialthermalanalysis(DTA).ThetensiletestswereconductedusinganInstron-typetensiletestmachineataconstantcrossheadvelocity.Widestrainrates242121intherangefrom5.0310to8.3310swereused.Forheatingthesamplesweusedacylindricalelectricfurnace.Thefluctuat
8、ionoftemperatureduringthetestswas61K.Thetestspecimenswereproducedbygluingthemetallicglassribbonontheceramicholderswithaceramiccement.Thegaugelengthwas10mm.Thetensiletestswerestartedafterallowing
