2、twoorthreemorpheme．Ofalldifferentstructures，theamountofsubordinatecompoundsiSthemostconsiderable．Ofgreatvalueishowcanchildrendeterminethemeaningsandrecognizethestructureofsubordinatecompoundwords．Theaimofthisstudywastoinvestigatethedevelopmentofsubordinateendocentricnominalcompoundwordswiththreedif

3、ferentmodifiercategories．Twotasks，compoundwordscomprehensionandcompoundwordsproduction，wereadministeredto90ChineseMainlandmonolingualkindergartenchildrenagedfromthreetofiveyearsold．Throughdataanalysis，severalconclusionsweredrawnasfollows：(1)Resultsshowedthatmodifiercategoryexertedsignificantinfluen

4、ceonboththecomprehensionandproductiontasks．Childrenacrossallagegroupsshowedapreferenceforadjective—nouncompoundsinthetwotasks．(2)Erroranalysisrevealedthatthemeaningdevelopedearlierthanthestructureinsubordinatecompoundnounsacquisition．Childrenunderstoodthemeaningofthecompoundsasawholenottwointeracti

5、ngpartsintheirearlyage．Later，theybegantoacquirethestructurerelationshipthatthemodifierwasusedtodefineormodifytheheadinsubordinatecompounds．(3)Finally，resultspresentedagealsohadsignificanteffectonbothcomprehensionandproductiontasks．Children’Sperformancesonthetwotasksimprovedvisiblywithage．Takentoget
