3、ssenceofculture.Asaresult,scholarshavemadealotofresearchonculturaldifferencesandtheireffectsontranslation,conflictandintegration,andhavemadealargenumberofacademicreports.ThispaperaimstotalkabouttheeffectsofEast-Westculturaldifferencesontranslationandanalyzesomeusefultranslationways.Andatlasthe
4、recomestheconclusionofhowtomakeagoodtranslationtolessenourculturalgap,andtodeepenourcommunication.TaoSanqinthinkstherelationshipbetweenlanguageandcultureisverycomplicatedandimportantinthecross-culturaltranslationwork.First,languageisnotonlythecarrierofinformation,butalsothecarrierofculture.Inh
5、isLanguageandLinguistics,J.Lyons(1982:34)stated,“Particularlanguagesareassociatedhistoricallywithparticularcultures;thelanguagesprovidethekeytotheassociatedculturesandespeciallytotheirliterature;thelanguagesthemselvescannotbefullyunderstoodotherwisethaninthecontextofculturesinwhichtheyareinext
6、ricablyembedded.”Thestatementshowsthatlanguageisapartofaculture，itisusedtoserveandreflectcultureneeds，throughwhichwecangetaglimpseofthecultureformsofthatnation,suchascustoms，artandliterature.Actually,languageemergesunderculturalbackgroundandthencultureinfluencesandshapesitslinguisticsystem.Thu
